As a tourist a UK or EU driving licence is fully valid when visiting Spain.
When and UK or EU Citizen becomes an official resident in Spain the their driving licence is valid in Soain for 6 months from the date of residency at which time you would need to exchange your driving licence for a Spanish driving licence.
Remember that a Spanish driving licence is a European driving licence, accepted all over Europe as an EEA (European Economic Area)driving licence.
If you are a British driving licence holder who was resident in Spain before January 1st 2021 your UK licence is still valid at present.
The UK and Spanish governments are currently making an agreement for a new driving licence exchange program for UK residents living in Spain
N.B. As of February 2022 the validity of UK Driving Licences has been extended to 30th April 2022.
We expect a new exchange program to be in place by the end of April.
